Become a SOLID Developer

SOLID is an acronym for a set of programming principles espoused by Robert Martin, aka "Uncle Bob".
It stands for: Single Responsibility Principle: A class should have only one reason to change. Open-Closed Principle: Modules should be open to extension but closed for modification Liskov Substition Principle: Derived classes must be usable through the base class without users/clients needing to know the difference.
Interface Segregation Principle: Separate interfaces so that callers only depend on what they actually use.
Dependency Inversion Principle: Depend on abstractions.

Tom is a very good friend of the Inland Empire .NET User's Group, a Microsoft MVP, an exceptional developer with a wide range of experience in all types of technologies and frameworks – including Mono, well versed and practiced in Test Driven Development, and just an overall great guy. The IEDOTNETUG first met him when he contacted the group inquiring about presenting. He was going to be on vacation in Palm Springs, but not on the usual week the meetings were held. But having heard of his reputation through blogs and such, the user group knew it would be a great opportunity to learn from him, and made special arrangements to change the date of the March meeting. Since then Tom has presented again, and makes himself available via email, chat and twitter to the user group members for advice and brainstorming.

Most Valuable Member 2008/2009 Most Valuable Member Awards

The Second Annual Most Valuable Member Event was a BIG success. Four presenters, Salvadoran food, tons of swag, 58 attendees, and three well deserving recipients of the Most Valuable Member Award

Most Valuable Member 2008/2009. Total points of 26,350 - Volkan Uzun

Once again, Volkan has shown his commitment to the development community and returns as the 2008/2009 MVM. Volkan is constantly spreading his knowledge and helping others to learn. Many times he donates his raffle prizes to other members, or people he knows, who don't have the software. Volkan is very approachable and is always willing to lend a hand.

MVM Runner Up. Total points of 17,980 - Matt Penner

Matt took it upon himself to start videotaping the user group meetings, and is an important member of the user group. He is constantly coming up with new ideas on how to distribute presentations. Matt has given several presentations to the group and continues to amaze with his level of expertise.

MVM Second Runner Up. Total points of 8,360 - Dennis Palmer

Dennis' first IEDOTNETUG Meeting was at the First Annual MVM Event. He said the meeting inspired him to start attending the meetings and has become an essential member of the group. Dennis continually spreads the word about the IEDOTNETUG and started the twitter tag, #IEDOTNETUG.

Congratulations to all!

How'd you like free server space for hosting a website?

Verio has teamed up with the Inland Empire .NET User's Group and INETA to provide all members with free web hosting space. The deal includes 100 MB of disk space, 25 MB of SQL Server space, and un-metered bandwidth. Verio wants to start getting developers valuable experience in dealing with web servers and this is how they're gonna do it. All you have to do, is 1) provide your own domain name, and 2) be a registered member of the IEDOTNETUG, and 3) not use your website for any nefarious dealings. The servers have .NET frameworks 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0 and are integrated with all the Microsoft Visual Studio Editions. They do not come with email servers, but for free, you have the full ability to setup a playground with the latest technology and learn, learn, learn.

Are you interested? I know you are. If you want your free website and hosting space, just send a message.
